How to Get the Best 4K Video Quality in Zync

Set up Zync and your recording workflow for the best possible 4K video quality.

Lesson notes

Use this guide to get the highest camera quality possible when recording in Zync.

Quick checklist

  1. Select 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) in your recording settings.
  2. Use a 4K camera and choose it in Studio Setup.
  3. Use Chrome or Brave.
  4. Close extra apps and browser tabs before recording.
  5. Do not switch camera or mic during a take.
  6. Download Raw Recordings for the best-quality file.

Prerequisites

Before recording in 4K, make sure:

  1. Your camera supports 4K (3840 x 2160).
  2. Camera and microphone permissions are allowed.
  3. No other app is using your camera or mic.
  4. You are using Chrome or Brave.

1. Set your recording quality to 4K

  1. Open Workspace Settings.
  2. Go to Solo Studio Settings.
  3. Under Recording Resolution, choose 4K UHD (3840 x 2160).

If your camera cannot record in 4K, Zync will still use the highest quality your camera supports.

2. Pick the right camera in Studio Setup

Before you join:

  1. Open Studio Setup.
  2. In the camera dropdown, select your 4K camera.
  3. Check your preview looks clear before you start recording.

3. Set up your recording environment

For better visual quality:

  1. Use an external camera if available, that supports 4K.
  2. Place the camera at eye level.
  3. Use soft, even lighting on your face.
  4. Keep your background clean and simple.

4. Record in one stable take

During recording:

  1. Keep your camera and mic connected.
  2. Do not change camera or microphone devices mid-take.
  3. Avoid opening heavy apps while recording.

This helps keep quality consistent and prevents interrupted recordings.

5. Wait for Content Kit!

After recording:

  1. Open your session page.
  2. Go to Content Kit, use automatically edited videos or download Raw Recordings.

This gives you the highest-quality source files available from your recording.

Troubleshooting

If quality looks lower than expected:

  1. Make sure your 4K camera is selected in Studio Setup.
  2. Re-check that recording resolution is set to 4K UHD (3840 x 2160).
  3. Close extra tabs/apps and record again.
  4. Make sure Zoom/Meet/Loom/OBS (or similar tools) are not using your camera.
  5. Reconnect your camera, restart browser, and try a new take.
